Job Description

Purpose of Job

The Associate providesfinancial analysis, underwriting, and due diligence support for USAA Real Estate’s commercial real estate mortgage lending activities.

Essential Duties

  • Prepare detailed real estate financial analyses and financial modeling; develop models to underwrite mortgage loan investments.

  • Research and analyze market information to incorporate prudent modeling assumptions.

  • Coordinate, compile, review and summarize property-related due diligence materials. Work with brokers and principals on issues related to asset due diligence. Coordinate with appraisers and other due diligence vendors as required.

  • Create Commercial Mortgage Investment Committee investment briefs.

  • Maintain and input loan submissions information and provide regular reporting.

  • Train analysts, rotational analysts, and interns within the Capital Markets team.

  • Provide analytical support to Capital Markets loan closing and mortgage asset management staff as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field.

  • 3 to 5 years of commercial real estate industry work experience; preferably in life company lending.

  • High level of proficiency in Excel and Argus is required.

  • Exposure to and firm understanding of financial concepts with time value of money.

  • Ability to travel. Ability to regularly work extended hours.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; frequently required to stand, walk, and use business equipment daily such as computer, copier, fax, telephone, etc.

  • Frequently required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 40 lbs.

  • Ability to handle stress caused by multiple priorities, and other unforeseen situations associated with the organization.

  • Eyesight and hearing must be correctable to standard level.
